Alan Purwin, President

Alan Purwin was 16 years old when he sat at the controls of a helicopter for the first time. By 18, he took his first job crop dusting in Indiana, building flight hours, and he has never looked back.

By the mid-eighties, he was heavily involved in production work, creating aerial stunts for the classic television program "Airwolf." Today, he is regarded as one of the top film pilots of his generation, with an extraordinary list of credits from television, commercials, and major Hollywood movies, such as Transformers, Pearl Harbor, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

While building his career as a film pilot, Alan learned that most aviation companies used outdated equipment and based their business on a small selection of rotorcraft. "No one seemed interested in running a full-service, highly professional flight services company," he said. In response to this increasing need, Alan started West Coast Helicopters in 1987 and later merged it with Helinet Aviation, which he purchased in 1998.

Today, Helinet Aviation has established itself as a premium provider of flight services to a variety of major markets, including motion picture, news, charter, medical and government.

Alan's enduring passion and dedication to his customers ensure an unparalleled safety record, a commitment to public duty and many moments of extraordinary aerial footage seen by millions across the globe.

Alan and his wife Kathryn live with their two children, Kyle and Michaela, in Los Angeles, California.
