Dirk Vahle, Chief Pilot
Dirk Vahle has been working with Alan Purwin of Helinet Aviation since 1986. He was Helinet Aviation's first Chief Pilot and has served in several other roles over the years, resuming the role of Chief Pilot again in May, 2007.
Dirk started his aviation career with the United States Army as a Warrant Officer and pilot in 1972. He continued on to civilian aviation in charter and corporate flight operations. Later, Dirk started work as a television and film pilot along with Alan Purwin on the "Airwolf" television series.
As a film pilot in both helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft, Dirk has been involved in several major motion pictures, as well as numerous television and commercial projects. He won a World Stunt Award in 2002 for his work in Behind Enemy Lines, and was a stunt pilot or a pilot of an aerial camera helicopter in major features, including Transformers, Man on Fire, National Treasure, Bad Boys II, Charlie's Angels, Pearl Harbor, Armageddon and many others.
